Before we get into this Sunday’s selection, we want to honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg, an extraordinary woman, accomplished jurist, and opera lover. You can read about her favorite opera recordings here and more about her performance with Washington National Opera featuring Larry Brownlee here
I appreciate your tribute to opera lover, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and intend to enjoy the unexpected gift of her playlist. Today, however, as she lies in repose at the Supreme Court, it is the nascent love of Fritz and Suzel, in Act II of Pietro Mascagni's "L'amico Fritz", which is helping me to keep at bay my grief over her loss, and the thousands of American lives ended or upended by COVID-19. The pride of Modena - Pavarotti and Freni - certainly gave majestic performances of “Suzel, buon dì…Tutto tace.” It is the sweetness of “The Cherry Duet”, as performed by Tito Schipa and Mafalda Favero, however, which won my allegiance. "Opera Daily" (Michelle) your memories are my blessings.

Mascagni also made a LaScala recording of Cavalleria Rusticana as conductor in the 1930's.
He gives a charming introduction to his opera on Seraphim records. Not sure if it is on CD but was an LP transfer from 78's.
Ginsburg's list was a good one and we would have agreed on most of her selections.
